Students from Nelson Tasman high schools embarked on an exciting exploration of civil construction careers, organised by CCNZ and NRDA.
They toured York Quarry (Fulton Hogan), the Appleby asphalt plant (Isaac Construction), and the Halifax Water Mains project (Donaldson Civil), encountering impressive machinery and discovering the diverse range of tasks and career paths in the industry. After each site visit, teams completed a pop quiz to test their learning and compete for the winning team. It was clear the students were listening closely, as the teams did great! They also heard firsthand from industry professionals about their career journeys and opportunities, and learned valuable insights from NMIT about civil construction study options.
It was an excellent day of hands-on learning and exploration.
