Apprenticeships – Viridian Glass officers apprenticeships (paid for by Viridian) to help you get qualified and start your career. BCITO apprenticeships (Glass Processor or Glazing) take around three years to complete. Both apprenticeships require internal training with Viridian and external training with BCITO. The internal training involves completing bookwork for unit standards. The external training involves going to block courses to further develop your skills. Glazing apprenticeships require 3 block course and Glass Processing apprenticeships require 1 block course.
What do I need to get into an apprenticeship?
There are no strict entry requirements, although it will help if you have good math’s and English skills – you need to be able to understand instructions and work out measurements, quantities and angles.
What is a career in Glass is like?
In the flat glass industry, the new and old meet. Whilst it is still a hands on and physical industry it is fast growing and now involves many new technologies including CNC, Furnace and Robotics. As a Glazier no two days are the same. You will get to visit a range of sites from residential to large commercial, apartment blocks to shopping malls.
